Cardiology: CT Angiography
Each year, thousands of patients present to emergency departments with complaints of chest pain.
The evaluation of this symptom can be challenging in the absence of conclusive evidence of myocardial infarction or ischemic changes during an initial workup.
A newer diagnostic study, 64-slice computed tomography (CT) angiography, can assist in the evaluation of coronary arteries and angina.
CT angiography has been proven beneficial in the evaluation of patients at low risk for heart attack, patients without a history of known coronary artery disease and patients with stable angina.
